Case Studies
Situated on the banks of the River Thames, DP World London Gateway is a logistics hub, featuring a deep-sea port, rail terminal, and logistics park. From this enviable location, the Gateway offers versatile and bespoke solutions for a large number of the UK’s imports and exports, making it crucial for the growth of many of the country's major industries.
Within the London Gateway hub, the logistics park provides companies with warehouse facilities for product storage and distribution that are connected to incredible transport links. As the most integrated logistics services space in the UK, the park is currently occupied by a variety of companies including UPS, Lidl, and Dixons Carphone.
As part of the continued expansion of the logistics park, in June 2019 work began on LG231, a new warehouse facility to the north of the park. The project consisted of a 231,000 sq ft warehouse, 11,970 sq ft ancillary office, and yard area with 68 HGV spaces. Readie Construction, a contractor specialising in industrial, logistics, and retail park spaces, were appointed to oversee the project, having already developed two previous warehouses on the site.
With our depot in Tilbury, Essex, located less than 10 miles along the Thames, Mix It was the ideal choice to supply concrete for this project. Throughout construction, we provided 4376m³ of concrete, mainly for concrete slabs.
Another key influence on our involvement in this project was its Planet Mark accreditation. This means carbon consumption was kept as low as possible throughout construction, and the occupiers will also be able to operate more sustainably due to the building’s Grade A, BREEAM Excellent standard. As a company, we strive to be as sustainable as we can be, so are always happy to be a part of projects that reflect these values.
After six months of hard work, LG231 will be available for occupation from December 2019, offering state-of-the-art facilities and unrivalled distribution opportunities.
