Case Studies
Reef Group is a property development and investment company based in London, focusing on urban regeneration since it was founded in 2002. Working with partners in the architectural, construction, and real estate industries, as well as local authorities, they create developments for residential, commercial, retail, and leisure use, designed to facilitate socio-economic growth within the area.
One of Reef Group’s recent projects was a 21-story aparthotel in Aldgate, London, featuring 178 modern apartment suites and costing a total of £38m. The 90,000 sq ft building offers both work and living spaces, as well as a bar, roof terrace, and leisure facilities. These apartments are designed for short term use, combining the flexibility of an apartment with the benefits of a hotel, and are available for stays of a maximum of three months, making them perfect for tourists and business visitors.
The Aldgate aparthotel was designed by Stockwool Architects, incorporating modern design with a brick façade that blends seamlessly into the existing masonry architecture of the area. The project was overseen by Ardmore Group, a contractor with over 40 years’ experience building homes and hotels, as well as schools, parks, and medical centres.
With one of our four depots located in Bow, London, we were ideally placed to be involved in this project. Having been supplying ready mix concrete throughout North London and Essex for almost 40 years, at Mix It we are always happy to see development and investment in the local area. We were therefore proud to have been chosen as the concrete supplier for the aparthotel, providing a total of 15,000m³ of concrete for the foundations, frames, and floors.
After planning consent was granted back in 2014, this five-year project was completed in 2019 and will be operated by housing provider Portland Brown.
